A centuries-old masseria serving a contemporary take on rustic Pugliese cuisine.
Set on a 15th-century estate near Ostuni, Masseria Il Frantoio is a working organic farm with a hotel and restaurant, where you can feast on delicious field-to-table cuisine based on traditional local recipes. The menus are dictated by the seasons, and most of the produce is home-grown. Asparagus, pumpkins, artichokes, beans and chicory come straight from the farm; the fruit from the citrus grove, which dates back to the 1800s. Even the wheat for the bread and pasta comes from the estate, as do the wild herbs used to season the dishes. After your meal, sample one of the 35 artisan liqueurs made on site, including one flavoured with olive leaves.
